Introducing Butterworth Photography at The Mill

Well this is a really exciting blog post to be writing, we’re very happy to introduce to you Butterworth Photography at The Mill.

We’ve been established for a while now and as the business has grown our family home has shrunk! At the start of this year Neil and I sat down and both said together ‘we need more space’ one of the tell-tale signs is the Indiana Jones move Neil made recently to push me out of the way from falling wedding fair products which took a dive off the top of the wardrobe. We set out intending to find a suitable space to meet our clients and store our products, but when we came across this little place located in an old Mill in Long Eaton, we fell in love with the light and the bricks.

The Mill will launch in all it’s glory in May and will be used primarily as a meeting place with clients and for workshops/shooting. We are still lovers of lifestyle photography so our lifestyle portrait shoots will continue to be in the great outdoors unless our clients prefer an inside shoot.

So that’s a little introduction, we’ll be sharing lots more once we’ve finished painting, rehoused the spiders and injected some care and love into the place. That just leaves us to say quite a few thank you’s, (ooo I’m filling up) we have reached this point in being able to progress through the help, love and support of many fabulous people. A BIG BIG thank you to our clients, without them goes without saying where we’d be and you’re all so fabulous! Secondly our family and friends who’s help with watching the kids and encouragement has been essential and so gratefully appreciated, then there’s these great folk, suppliers and other’s in the industry who have from the goodness of their heart given us their time, shared their knowledge, lent an ear and a shoulder, they’ve all supported us to get here, so ‘Thank you so very, very much’ to Cakey Wakey Jo & Pete, Kerry at Tineke Floral Designs, Sarah of Tillyboo, Jo & Peter of Dennisson Classic Cars, Honeysuckle & Castle’s Helen & Sally, Chloe of Adore by Chloe, Christine of Crocstar, Jackie Thompson, Karen of Darby & Joan and then to our mentors who we met back in 2007, John & Liz Denton of Denton Photography.

Here’s a couple of ‘Before’ pictures of the hall as we’ve called it, which our children currently are enjoying running around in, we’ll be in trouble with them once we got some furniture in there!! We’ll get some ‘After’ shots as soon as we’re done!

Leadenham House Weddings

We were invited to photograph Leadenham House as it prepares to open it’s doors to host beautiful weddings. Working with a team of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire wedding professionals we captured the house as set up for Leadenham House Weddings.   The house was built around the 1790, it has stunning views across the Vale of Trent and on a clear day the roofs of two very historic Cathedrals can be seen, Southwell Minster and Lincoln Cathedral. With this said what a perfect location to marry.

Just as a taster we’ve posted some images below, and we’ll be blogging a whole selection more very soon with full details of the suppliers involved. We just wanted to give everyone a little peek at what we did on Monday and to show off the amazing work of some very fine wedding professionals.

Vintage Tea Party

My Friday morning’s will never been the same again, after recently joining Darby and Joan for a vintage tea party. March 2012 is Ovarian Cancer Awareness month and the very lovely Karen of Darby & Joan Vintage, organised a get together for the Eve Appeal’s Make Time for Tea campaign.

With a table fully laden with a whole host of beautiful and scrumptious cakes, Karen provided us with endless cups of coffee and tea, poured in her beautiful selection of china. As we all sipped and slurped, and enjoyed ‘just one more slice’ we knew that any calories wouldn’t count as it was all in aid of a fabulous charity.

With initially only an hour to spare out of my working schedule, with such a delight to photograph, and the opportunity to catch up with some great friends, I managed to spare some extra time! I’d like to send big thanks to Karen, for taking the time to organise such a treat, she’s managed to raise over £300 in just a few hours.  I would fully recommend a vintage tea party hosted by Darby & Joan for any special occasion.  Check out the beautiful flowers donated by Kerry at Tineke Floral Designs too, sad I didn’t win them!!
