On Sunday the sun shone down on Nottingham for the wedding of Ben & Louise, as Summer decided to take one more bow in 2011. I’ve known Ben since he was probably the age of our son Edward who’s four, and not seeing him recently, I’ve probably said a million times ‘I can’t believe you’re all grown up!’ – although I’m not too much older than him of course! I loved that Louise contacted me when they were planning their wedding to ask me if I could photograph their day!
I started photographing the bridal preparations, as the house buzzed with all the ladies and little ladies getting pampered and ready. The house wasn’t short of people popping in, Lucy to bring sandwiches sent by Ben’s mum, the best man to pick up the forgotten rings and Louise’s brother to drop in some champagne.
As Louise’s mum zipped her into her wedding dress, I could see the look on her face and ‘that moment’ … wooo I feel like a bride!
I headed over to meet with ‘the lads’ and arrived as some familiar faces that I knew arrived at the ceremony, it was a big treat seeing everyone. Ben and his best men looked very dapper in their suits … all grown up, no shorts, and bruised knees now!
Louise arrived at the ceremony in a gorgeous blue VW camper van, she then met with Ben and they walked down the aisle together. It was a very personal ceremony with readings by Lucy, Ben’s sister and Louise’s friends, and music played by a friend on the guitar. Afterwards it was back outside into the October sunshine and then a drive to the reception venue.
With some truly heart felt speeches it was time for a really delicious dinner and then of course a bit of dancing!
Louise & Ben, thank you so much for asking me to capture your day, I know that you guys have something so incredibly special, it’s very clear to see that you’re not just Mr & Mrs Taylor but you’re both the very best of friends. We wish you along with your chickens, a very happy journey together …. Becky xxx
