I totally loved the wedding of the new Mr & Mrs Curtis, it was special to me as it was in one of the ways to them. Helen and Adrian ‘Bay’ live in Richmond, Yorkshire however Helen was born, lived and studied in Nottingham for many years before that. I met up with Helen on a few occasion on her trips back to Nottingham and she told me how her marriage at the local church to her parents home and the celebrations afterwards at Nottingham University were key in her wedding plans as they both played a huge part in her life. This made me connect to this wedding immediately, as their church is just some ten minutes walk from our home and the University has been the place as a child we used to go to for a walk around the lake and feed the ducks, and now I do that with my own little ones.
After meeting Helen the night before the wedding to catch up on the finer details I left her and she was exuding excitement and looked incredibly radiant – an English rose as I described her to Neil. When I next saw her it was the morning of her big day, she was sat with the professional and tender hands of Liz a close family friend who had been hairdresser to now all of the 3 Goldie girls. At this point Helen was looking more like a hair double for Bet Lynch as I walked in during the serious back combing stages! It wasn’t long after that Helen was helped by mum and Liz (plus a foot stool) to help her get into her dress, then her veil carefully placed she was all set to meet her man …. and ready well on time!!
Meanwhile Neil had met up with ‘the guys’ at the local hotel, they all headed together over to the church and were later then to be met by ‘mini best man’. The ceremony was very personal to Helen & Bay and the church was bursting with family, friends, neighbours and many other well wishers, just proving what a beautiful couple they are!
After the ceremony I followed Helen and Bay to take some shots from the other side of the lake to their reception room of the university and Neil headed off to catch shots of the guests arriving at the venue. From then on we captured the celebrations, grabbing some quiet time with Helen and Bay at small intervals to get some ‘just the two of you’ time.
Helen & Bay, thank you for a fabulous day, you both looked wonderful and your friends and family were so very happy for you – especially Bob!! We wish you all the happiness for the future, Neil & Becky xx
