It was a Blackbrook House wedding for Andy & Jenny, they’d chosen us as their Derbyshire wedding photographers after meeting us at a wedding fair last year, and we’ve loved getting to know them ever since. This was our first wedding at Blackbrook House and after visiting for a coffee and catch up with Andy and Jenny a little while before, we were really excited to be photographing their wedding day there.
I started photographing the bridal preparations at Jenny’s parents house, the kitchen was now a temporary hair salon with the exception of mum cooking up Jenny’s special dish of eggs on toast to the way she loves them. I joined Jenny, mum and sister Meg in the car on the way over to Blackbrook House, it was a great little drive as we listened to ‘Jackies’ Greatest Hits, excitedly chatting. When we arrived at Blackbrook we took over the bridal dressing room, and were joined by Jenny’s make up artist and the final preparations began.
Meanwhile Neil was waiting for Andy to arrive, who as for a wedding gift been loaned an Audi R8 from a friend. Jen’s grandma’s arrived first in style, pulling up in a beautiful Bentley. Then with the hum of the Audi engine arriving, Andy pulled up beside it. There was then much admiration for the cars for a while as we peeked down through the upstairs window.
Once Jenny was ready dad came in to see her and it all got a little emotional, they then took the staircase down to ceremony room. Our documentary photography style captured the personal readings and lots of great moments between Jenny and Andy. I then slipped outside the ceremony room to capture them as they came out the doors as Mr & Mrs Green, as they came through I witnessed something I’d not before at this stage of a wedding, Andy & Jenny turned to each other, emotionally hugged and had a little weep of ‘we’ve done it, we’re married, I’m so happy!’. It was a powerful moment.
We then all went out into the gardens where we captured the chat, drinks and special moments between Jenny & Andy.
The speeches followed dinner, with the presentation of some new underwear for Andy’s brother, along with the story behind them, these were later modelled after the first dance to all the guests.
After we’d captured the first couple of dances we said a fond farewell and the party had well and truly started.
Andy & Jenny, we’re delighted you chose us as your wedding photographers, we wish you all the happiness for your journey as Mr & Mrs Green.
Special thanks to the staff at Blackbrook House who were extremely welcoming to us and wonderful in creating a special day for
